School Lunch
Last Wednesday I picked the kids up from school. I asked how their day was, what they learned, and how many laps they ran at lunch. Since Ella had been coming home complaining about the hot lunches, I thought I would ask her what she had for lunch. She replied with, "Uh-oh. I don't think I like where this is going...". Turns out she had a salad with "disgusting stuff, like ham and cheese..."

Little Devil
Friday night we were in the car, running errands. Braeden and Ella were fighting, so we told them we wouldn't let them rent a movie. Braeden, trying to make nice says, "Oh, I love that sweet little girl." Then Ella cries out, "Braeden called me a Little Devil!" I said, "No, Ella. He called you a sweet little girl." Then Ella said, "Well, just so you know, he calls me a Little Devil in the future!!!"
Pirates?
Tonight on the news, we heard about the sailors whose boat was hijacked by pirates. Ella said, "I didn't know pirates were real." Brian said, "Well, these aren't the same as the pirates you see in the movies.". So Ella said, "Wouldn't it be better if they were just called Maniacs?!?!"

Turn off the sun!
One Saturday we decided to take a drive trip to Seaside, OR. We were driving through Tillamook and 3-year old Ella says, "Daddy, it's really bright in the car. Can you please turn off the sun?"
Same trip, driving through the farms, Ella says (with her sweet little lisp), "Daddy, where do the cows go potty?" Brian says, "They just go in the field." Ella says, "Eeeewwww. Cows pee in the grass. That's gross."

I'll hold you...
When Ella was just three, she was exposed to Pertussis (Whooping Cough) by an unimmunized classmate at school. To test for this, the Doctor's office inserts a long cotton swab into each nostril. The nurse recommended I hold her, keeping her arms from grabbing the swab, as it is uncomfortable. I held her and loved on her. There were some tears, but the nurse got the job done, and of course, she tested positive for Whooping Cough.
Fast forward six months, and I got sick. Ella noticed I was coughing a lot, so she tells me, "Mommy, I will hold you on my lap and hug you when you go to the Doctor to get rid of your cough!"

Santa Claus?
As we enjoyed our dinner the other night, 6-year old Ella excused herself to use the restroom. Upon her return, she appeared somewhat concerned. "Um...Mommy, Daddy...I have a question. Does Santa Claus REALLY see you when you are going to the bathroom?"
